  • Oliveai => Waystar
    Software Engineer
    Oliveai => Waystar Aug 2021 - Jan 2024
    United States
    Waystar purchased Olive AI ClearingHouse Nov 1, 2023. Work continued on the Olive AI ClearingHouse Realtime code base until the most recent layoff, having survived three previous layoffs at Olive AI.Most recently, using a REST client like Postman, completed two projects, one of which sends claims directly to Waystar's ClearingHouse, bypassing Olive's ClearingHouse. The other, processed eligibility claims to Olive’s ClearingHouse, rather than the expensive Waveland ClearingHouse. Both were significant cost-cutting projects. As part of a remote team, in PHP with xDebug and MongoDB, coded real-time processing of sensitive healthcare data between insurance companies, hospitals, clinics and Olive's Clearinghouse. This included processing and security, including using AWS secret functionality, insurance coverage eligibility, patient address verification and processing claims. With the engineering team, debugged, coded & designed the realtime code line and developed new and improved processing and security of sensitive healthcare data between insurance companies, hospitals and Clearinghouse, in PHP using xDebug and MongoDB.Whenever clients made modifications, or a process was improved with better data for analysis, the DB records would be updated via scripts.Initially, input claims from Epic, then translated with Typescript for further insurance processing.
  • Tickets.Com
    Software Engineer
    Tickets.Com Apr 2004 - Dec 2020
    Costa Mesa, California, United States
    Tickets.com is a subsidiary of Major League Baseball (MLB). For the final 9 years wrote software in Java, JSP, JSTL, JavaScript, jQuery & CSS for the web pages (App & Web tiers) for MLB online ticketing. Coded many enhancements using AJAX, JSON, XML, using a REST client like Postman. Among these PVO enhancements & projects: designed & coded the Seller Pricing Tool pages, all the code changes for WCAG compliancy and converted all the JSP pages to JSTL. Reduced the number of pages from seat selection to the payment confirmation pages. Finally, wrote the bridge from the latest frontend application, MPV, to PVO for its popular My Tickets application. Initially, developed software in C/C++ for the server and box office application, PVE, a server for online and box office ticketing for MLB (Major League Baseball), as well as other entertainment venues. PVE used flat files for data storage, rather than a database.Wrote many utility applications and maintained access and control to this large server application. Coded many enhancements and completed many projects for this large enterprise backend application.As part of a team, migrated much of the old ‘C’ application to ‘C++’, creating a growing ‘C++’ library including asynchronous callback routines. Some of the original code was quite old, making maintenance and enhancements challenging.Speed and accuracy were of importance; all loops needed to be tight and well-designed.In the application’s twilight years, minor modifications including DEKE key security upgrades. At times, monitored linux servers using Splunk.
  • Interact Devices, Inc.
    Senior Software Engineer
    Interact Devices, Inc. Feb 2002 - Apr 2003
    Folsom, California, United States
    As part of a small start-up company, created a Linux video conferencing set-top box, ''Interact'' using the OpenH323 library. Developed the object-oriented C/C++ code for the pre-release versions, eventually porting the entire application from gdk-pixbuf to QT, and then ported again to Xlib/Xtlib/LessTif. The GUI was mostly an overlay of shadowed text on the background video. Additionally, helped integrate components such as MPEG codec, PTZ camera, IR and PhoneJack into the application. This application was an R&D effort with frequently changing specifications.

Brought the product to successful completion from pre-release to version 2.0.TrialBook 32 included several ''.dll'' files for dynamic processing of real-time, network and imported files of various possible formats. This application supports embedded OLE objects. Using CreateDispatch, created a RichEdit formatted output file containing the same OLE objects created first in the TrialBook transcript document. Finally, made this application for use by multi-users over a network.In C/C++, worked with two other engineers to improve and customize the GUI for ''FileFlo'', a large enterprise scanning and document management application for Windows NT.
