Substitute Teacher
CurrentIn the wake of Covid, our schools are in great need of support, so I signed on as a substitute in my local district. I spend 3-5 days a week herding teenagers (in strong competition with cats as being the most challenging creatures to herd), helping them learn along the way. -I have very strong classroom management skills and usually run a pretty calm classroom where learning takes place. -I follow the teachers plans as closely as I possibly can-I improvise when the teachers plans are not comprehensive enough or when the student's needs do not match the lesson plans-I remain a calm presence in the room -I report important information back to the teacher, such as whether the class did well as a whole, and if necessary, who was a disruption, as well as ways the teacher's preparations helped me have a successful day-I (usually) manage my way through all the different tech, which is different in each classroom...just to make things fun for us subs, I'm sure.
