Reporting to Power Plant Maintenance Manager and fully responsible for leading the EC&I Maintenance Group to upkeep all aspects of Electrical and C&I maintenance in Qatalum’s Power Plant.Providing power to the Aluminium Smelter the Qatalum combined cycle power plant comprises of four (4) General Electric MS-9001FA Gas Turbine (GT) units, each rated 265MW with a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) and two (2) Steam Turbine (ST) units, each rated 270MW, making up the total installed capacity of 1600MW generated at 15.75 kV, 50Hz by the gas turbine (GT) unit generators and the steam turbine (ST) unit generators. Output from GT Generators is connected to the associated Generator Step-Up Transformers (GSU) 15/220kV via Generator Circuit Breakers (GCB). DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITES Reporting to the Reliability Maintenance Manager my Job entailed:Maintenance, Modification, Installation and Fault Finding of Low, Medium and High Voltage equipment, PLC Systems, Instrumentation and Protection/Monitoring Equipment associated within a 3 x 140MW Set Coal Fired Power Station supplying power to 4 Aluminium Smelting Potlines (via 24KV Overhead Transmission Lines and Substation to 16 x 24KV/800V DC 30KA Transformer Rectifiers, also supplying to the National Grid via 2 x 24/132KV Step up Grid Transformers). The running of and looking after the Electrical Craft Department and assisting with the Instrument Craft Department. Electrical/Instrument projects. Outage Planning Planning the work for the Electrical/Instrument Teams (CMMS). Power Station CMMS Pilot/Administrator. Creating and planning Electrical/Instrument Planned Maintenance/Routines. Thermal Image Reporting. Supporting Management in the implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental policies and directives through full use and understanding of PTW System, Safety and Inspection tours, DSEAR, Hazardous Energy Control, Computerized Safety and Information Management Systems etc. Implementation/teaching of training involved with Elec/Inst/Mech equipment and processes, CMMS, PLC's and any existing/new equipment installed on site.  NVQ Apprentice Assessor..
