As an ATP I am involved in the evaluation process for all complex manual and power wheelchairs for adults and pediatrics. I provide Complex Rehab Technology seating evaluations for people with significant postural or mobility defects. I am certified through RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America) as an ATP to work with a customer, respected therapist and their clinician to qualify for coverage. During an evaluation, an ATP considers a customer’s immediate and anticipated medical and functional needs. This includes activities of daily living, functional mobility, positioning and pressure relief. I then work with the insurance and/or appropriate funding source.
