Current

Arukah Animal International is an arts-focused animal-advocacy organization using the arts to inspire a radical shift toward an appreciation that we humans share emotional lives and kinship with other animals. The incandescence of art can inspire us all into taking a stand against the archipelago of suffering of other species, the alarming diminution of lives to which the most appalling cruelties are committed. We are all equal in who we are and our desire to live. In 2023, we had two major live-streamed events—an exhilarating flow of ideas from wide-ranging perspectives, as well as the premier of a video," Pathogens and Pigs, What’s on Your Plate? Rather, WHO's on Your Plate?" that laid bare the despair and desolation for pigs on factory farms—a hotbed of pathogenic or zoonotic infectious diseases. The celebrated and renowned panelists included Marc Bekoff, Ph.D., Jeff Sebo, Ph.D., Steve Decker, and Esther the Wonder Pig; Dana Ellyn, Annie Potts, Ph.D.; Claudia Hirtenfelder, Ph.D., Julia Denos, Bubi the Bear, Laura Jean McKay, Maria Martelli of Just Wondering, Shannon Johnstone, Michelle Waters, Carol Gigliotti, EvaMarie Lindahl. We also created two campaigns that centered around reducing dairy consumption and opposing the possibility of the Canary Island's industrial commercial farming of octopuses.

Freelance

Free-lance writing and editing. Explored how human and animal health are intertwined, specifically, the public health risks of consuming animals in relation to deadly infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance, and to encourage alternative rituals, ceremonies, folk and other long-held traditions, and practices that do not exalt cruelty or cause grievous public health risk—but, rather, inspire a recognition, a reverence for more-than-human animals in all their astonishment. Co-produced a film about a pig-weighing contest in Taiwan called the Pig of Gods contest with Environment & Animal Society of Taiwan (EAST).Previously explored methods of research to verify the presence of pathogenic or zoonotic microorganisms to illuminate the dire public health risks of consuming animals in relation to deadly infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance. Animal industries are among the most dangerous breeding grounds of zoonotic infectious diseases and are directly linked to the production and consumption of animals.
