Equipment used: lathe, mill, C&C mill, hydraulic press, sand blaster, spot welder, TIG welder, vacuum systems, upright grinder, surface grinder, and miscellaneous hand tools. This position lasted until October ‘04, when promoted to Laboratory Technician.Laboratory Technician:Deposited Lithium Fluoride in a vacuum system and made Polyimide film using a spin coater. Manufactured submicron filters for soft X-ray and EUV research, performed microscopic examinations for quality control, and released deposited films from substrates used in deposition. Other duties included writing certifications on the computer, keeping work environments clean to laboratory standards, and troubleshooting any problems that arose with the systems, filters, and Polyimide.

Manufactured custom cabinets using panel saws, table saws, cut-off saws, drill presses, DATO saws, and random orbital sanders, participating in every step of the process from cutting and assembly, to varnishing, to final installation. Obeyed the shop safety standards and all the procedures needed to adjust the machines and change blades and other parts, repaired and maintained most of the machines, and communicated often with the other workers in order to establish what jobs needed to be done. Analyzed cabinet layouts and interpreted them into their final form and also made adjustments needed after the final product was complete.
