Responsible for co-ordination of training and education program across SMI, and co-convenor of the Minerals and Energy for Development Alliance (MEfDA) with UWA's Energy and Minerals Institute.

The International Mining for Development Centre was an initiative of the Australian Government, funded through the Aid Program under the Mining for Development initiative. A joint venture between The University of Western Australia and The University of Western Australia, its overarching objective was to strengthen the capacity of developing countries to translate the presence of mining developments into significant and sustainable economic and social benefits.This role had primary responsibility for the design, development, delivery and assessment of a program of education and training products around resource governance, resource management and the development of sustainable extractive industries in target countries. The program involved the delivery of a series of workshops and courses both in Australia and in various overseas countries. This role also oversaw the co-ordination of a number of research, fellowship and alumni activities in an integrated program.

Senior researcher at the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining, responsible for management of research projects and activities. Also responsible for the education and training program for the centre, including co-ordination of the Graduate Program in Community Relations (Resources Sector).

Responsible at a business management team level for the development and implementation of technology strategies to support business objectives. Key activities included co-ordination of a portfolio of product development projects, provision of technical support to manufacturing operations, and technology transfer to and from shareholder companies. Also responsible for the Technical Service and Field Support functions.

Responsible for the provision of technical support to distributor and customer personnel via a small, geographically dispersed team of Technical Service Engineers. Key activities included the identification of customer needs, co-ordination of new product trialing processes, provision of training support to both distributors and end-users, and the management of the customer complaint process.

Key accountabilities included the development and implementation of projects intended to improve the effectiveness of drilling and blasting operations in all orebodies. These included fragmentation studies, monitoring of surface vibrations and design of complex blast sequences. The role also provided support to operational drill and blast operations, as well as monitoring the activities of external groups working in relevant areas and co-ordinating field trials..

On secondment to an open pit copper mine in the Peruvian Andes managed by Southern Peru Copper Corporation. The majority of time was spent in operational roles, supervising truck/shovel and drill and blast operations, followed by a period in mine planning.
