I am a Senior Policy Analyst with over 20 years of experience in education and social policy. I began my career as a high school Government and U.S. History teacher before moving into the P-20 education policy sphere, where I worked the private, non-profit, and public sectors. I am passionate about helping others, so my work has been varied, with a focus on P-20 education and social policy, research, and analysis. I have successfully managed and mentored teams, empowering staff to contribute significantly to the many projects I have led. I am a collaborative leader and an experienced manager and I excel in building strong relationships with diverse teams who produce reports and other products for high-profile clients, including members of Congress and federal agency officials. I develop and implement several types of data collection methods, such as designing and executing a survey of Head Start grantees that allows for the accurate and efficient collection of qualitative and quantitative information. In addition, I have been lead author or co-authored six reports, resulting in multiple recommendations that improved how the Department of Education and other agencies provide services to various constituent groups, including children enrolled in child care programs. Lastly, I collaborate with internal and external stakeholders that contributes research, data, and information for reports; for example, I developed and implemented focus groups on a program that supports children with special needs and their families.
