My experience with employers includes writing, editing and proofreading website content, feature articles, best practice case studies, industry white papers, thought leadership reports, press releases and media alerts, marketing brochures, advertisements, marketing campaign content, executive product summaries, employee and stakeholder newsletters, media kits and fact sheets, communication plans, branding and key messages, internal communications, marketing proposals and qualification documents, video scripts, annual report content, technical end user manuals, style and grammar guides and recruiting copy. The senior copy writer and editor is the link between leadership, subject matter experts, engineers, and technical specialists who creates the appropriate internal- and external-use content for multiple audiences from the C suite to frontline end users. In my ten years with Ricoh I learned how to work with a Japanese company, how to work with Japanese leaders, how to report to a Japanese manager, and how to serve on a global team with most of the stakeholders residing in Tokyo. My value proposition has two major components:1. Cultural Agility2. The Lessons of KaizenCultural Agility: As a member of a global team working for Ricoh over ten years I’ve successfully worked across traditions, cultures, time zones, generations and languages. I worked with Ricoh’s top leadership in Japan and the U.S. I understand that Japanese colleagues do not separate business and culture, they dovetail. The relationships I developed in the Chairman’s Office and with regional leaders is a valuable lesson learned. My evidence to support the value in cultural agility is that I expected to be laid off about three years ago when Ricoh condensed the two global teams I served on, process and tools. At that time I decided to expand my editorial services beyond the two teams and my manager supported me and we extended my editorial services to Ricoh Europe’s service delivery teams and Ricoh Japan’s core value marketing groups. I was able to stay in my global role and successfully complete dozens of edits for tech leaders in these regions for an additional three years, all while working from home. My manager and his leadership understood and appreciated the tangible, i.e., accurate and thorough content and edits, and the intangible value I offered, i.e., being easy to work with and consistently delivering high quality results through a standardized and clear process for my internal customers, many of whom struggled to write in English.

Motivational SpeakerSelf-Employed Nov 2020 - PresentPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania, United States1. Nothing replaces experience; writers get better with experience and become core team members as we add value to every component of a project, such as requirements gathering, status reporting, and stakeholder communications.2. I know some managers wants their tech writer in the building working with subject matter experts and engineers. An experienced remote worker, like me, can do the work with quality results and make the core team feel and think they are well supported. I supported large technical development and service teams in London and Tokyo from Pennsylvania for three years and my internal customers understood the editorial process and we worked together flawlessly across time zones and languages, because of my deep tech writing experience, general tech savvy, and ability to connect and support colleagues within my workflow processes.3. Writing technical documentation for internal users is my core strength, which I do at the intersection of project management, gap analysis, audience analysis, requirements gathering, and the editorial approvals process. In the best scenario, I'll bring ideas to the team and close gaps, working from anywhere.

I embraced the concept and was fortunate to find opportunities in my work to continuously improve internal processes and procedures. Specifically, I improved our team’s monthly stakeholder reporting to global leaders, expanded translation capabilities from Japanese to English for Ricoh Korea and Singapore, and supported Ricoh’s Latin America weekly reporting results for a global major account (IBM!), all within my responsibilities as the global business copy writer without any additional budget or time allocations.Providing a variety of documentation and communications for the VP Managed Document Services including program manuals, global implementation capabilities, document set descriptions, customer procedures, Ricoh procedures, templates, contract content, marketing and employee communications -
