I lessen community adversity by eliminating preventable deaths caused by lack of access to a safe supply of drugs, medicines, and/or substances. I work with community organizations to make myself present at events across the community, where I distribute Narcan, host Narcan trainings, distribute Fentanyl test strips and offer free substance testing to identify contents of unregulated substances, offer peer support and access to Medication Assisted Treatment for addiction, and utilize my extensive knowledge of substances and drug policy to make community changes. My skills in computer science and data analysis help me to analyze community needs from a numerical standpoint, and my existence as a survivor of extreme adversity have created a unique understanding and profound diligence for fixing a broken system founded on misinformation and lack of education. Politically, I have made a name for myself in my community by helping draft an ordinance to decriminalize cannabis in Athens - Clarke County and push city commissioners to vote wisely. On August 2, 2022, my colleagues and I DECRIMINALIZED cannabis in Athens- Clarke County and implemented GA’S LOWEST FINE ($35) for misdemeanor possession. My passion for ending the failed War on Drugs to create a safe supply of pain medicines and allow bodily autonomy through exploration of altered consciousness runs as deep as my veins and as profound as the cells in my body. It is who I am as a human.
