From the concert hall to the classroom to the community, the East Texas Symphony Orchestra has played a vital role in the cultural life of Tyler and the surrounding region since 1936. I am excited to be a part of the team serving East Texas communities and to be working alongside the dedicated Board of Directors, exceptional staff, devoted community supporters, the talented Conductor Richard Lee and the amazing musicians of the ETSO. Throughout its history the orchestra has had several musical homes. The early years saw performances at Tyler Commercial College. Later seasons would be spent at Caldwell Auditorium in Downtown Tyler. For the past twenty-one years, the orchestra has offered its main subscription series at the R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center at The University of Texas at Tyler. Along with the central subscription concerts, the orchestra has offered programs at such locations as Bergfeld Park, Liberty Hall, Caldwell Auditorium and on The Square in Downtown Tyler.Along with these concerts, the orchestra engages with the community a variety of ways, presenting family programming, intimate chamber performances, masterclasses, multi-media presentations, lectures, and casual gatherings at various venues around town.Education has been an important part of the ETSO mission from its inception. Annual school programs, which began in the mid-1950’s, have grown to involve schools from throughout Tyler and beyond. In 2012, ETSO became a partner orchestra in the Link Up program from Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute. This curriculum-based music education program brings music to the classrooms and culminates in an interactive performance with the ETSO at TISD’s Caldwell Auditorium. The East Texas Symphony Orchestra proudly serves over 3,000 elementary students each year via Link Up.

As a consultant, I've had the unique opportunity to work with organizations bringing dreams to sustainable thriving realities. My desire is to generously serve, add value to an organization, empower individuals as leaders, and establish teams to achieve goals, both immediate and long term. Partnering this desire with my developed professional skills of over 25 years, I am able to easily see a need, identify what can be done, and work to achieve it. I have extensive experience working with educational institutions, schools, and non-profits in support of arts education with organizational planning and building capacity.

The California Alliance for Arts Education advocates for high quality arts education for all students by providing policy expertise and by mobilizing a statewide network of advocates and allied partners.The California Alliance is in its fifth decade of working to build a brighter future for our state by making the arts a core part of every child’s education. A statewide leader and convener, the Alliance galvanizes California’s educators and other experts in arts and culture to advocate for quality arts education for all students. Our efforts focus on three key areas:PUBLIC ADVOCACY: Through media coverage, public presentations and an array of online tools the Alliance engages the public in state and local arts education advocacy.STATE POLICY: We champion essential funding and supportive policies to advance quality, accessible arts education. The Alliance authors briefing papers on critical topics, which advance sound policy development.PARTNERSHIPS: Our Local Advocacy Network, now in numerous California communities and web-based advocacy groups, builds the capacity of advocates to communicate a unified message in their local communities by providing advocacy expertise, communications tools and leadership development. Partnerships with leading state education, parent and arts organizations as well as business leaders and members of our Policy Council extend our reach to millions of California citizens.
