Following school I had a year at Tech College and then went into Nursing. After qualifying as a General Registered Nurse I undertook 12 months Midwifery training at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. I then returned to RNSH for 10 months and worked in the Spinal Injuries unit prior to travelling to the UK. In the UK I combined working through a Nursing Agency, travelling and visiting relatives. My Agency nursing was mostly in Hospitals and the last 12 months I was on the staff of the Middlesex Hospital London. After 3 years I returned to Australia and was again employed at the RNSH in a women 's surgical ward and soon became the Supervising Sister in that ward. The Hospital was in the process of undergoing significant changes in management and building so in 1974 I applied for and was awarded a Scholarship to attend the NSW College of Nursing where I obtained my Diploma in Nursing Administration. I then returned to RNSH and remained there until I retired from the Hospital in 1982 to be married,
