School Administrator Specializing in Curriculum DevelopmentI am a public school educator who has served in the classroom and in administration. Most recently, before relocating to Pennsylvania, I spent five years as an elementary school assistant principal, leading the transition from North Carolina state curriculum to Common Core standards. I have handled building administration, hiring of faculty, student discipline, budgets, purchasing of textbooks, and researching and implementing student enrichment programs. Before becoming an administrator, I spent eight years in the classroom, differentiating my teaching methods based on students’ learning styles. I believe that all students are capable of learning. My job as an administrator is to give teachers the tools to reach each individual. Curriculum is truly my passion and has been the focus of my career since earning my master’s degree in School Administration, Supervision and Curriculum Planning. My extensive experience in this area included developing a program to increase the percentage of English Language Learners reading on grade level in an effort to meet the nation’s No Child Left Behind law. Also, I have worked to introduce technology in the classroom, reading and math enrichment programs, and data-driven lesson plans based on student assessment and Common Core standards. I currently hold a Pennsylvania Elementary Education Teacher Certificate; my Pennsylvania Education Administration Certificate is pending.
