I am currently working towards a B.S. in Health Sciences with a concentration in Pre-Health Professional Studies to fulfill my goals of attending medical school, and one day, owning my own dermatology practice. My first exposure to medicine was when my sister suffered from serious back acne. Her condition severely affected her confidence and she became a shell of her former bubbly self. It got to the point where she would wear T-shirts even when swimming to hide her back. After a few visits to the dermatologist, not only was her acne cleared but I got my funny, determined, and courageous sister back. I realized that medicine is more than simply keeping people alive. It is about making people want to keep living by fighting to improve quality of life. Throughout my experience in a variety of medical settings, this lesson was demonstrated time and time again. I've also drawn upon my extensive background in physical fitness by shaping my standards to focus on prevention of diseases rather than treatment to improve standard of living. I have participated in sports since I was in elementary school, but became serious about my passion for physical fitness when I was thirteen. I began my journey by competing in Olympic Lifting Competitions, CrossFit Events, and Collegiate Track and Field Athletics. While competing was a privilege, I know utilize my knowledge of fitness to focus on preventing disease as well as promoting my mental health. I will bring this mindset into my career in the medical field as well, and continue to renew my passion for medicine in a way that emphasizes not only treatment but prevention to promote wellness and improve standard of life for all patients.
