Robin Marchment has a broad academic background and extensive teaching experience. From 1992-1995 she held the positions of Secretary General of the Australian Taekwondo Association, High Performance Manager of the Olympic Athlete Program, and Vice-Chair of the World Taekwondo Federation Women's Committee. In the 1990s she turned to Chinese Medicine, completing a four-year full-time course at MCNM to obtain a degree in acupuncture (BHSc Acup), and in her graduating year was awarded the annual prize for best overall performance. She then completed two years of herbal studies at SSNT (Adv Dip HSc TCM) and undertook further studies and two post-graduate internships in China. In 1998 she returned to Monash University to undertake a three-year diploma of languages (Dip Lang Chinese) gaining High Distinctions. She reads Classical Chinese and speaks Mandarin Chinese and Korean. Robin is the author of "Chinese for TCM Practitioners", "Gynaecology Revisited: Obstetrics and Gynaecology for practitioners of Chinese Medicine" (also translated into German), and co-authored "Shang Han Lun Explained", a translation and discussion of the classic text written by Zhang Zhong Jing in 200 AD, which is a seminal text of Chinese medicine.
