“Robin is the glue that holds our IT department together.”These were the words of a co-worker during the transition of Timberland Company into the VF Corporation family in 2011. I treasure the faith these words reflect. My 35 years in Computer Operations began in the Air Force where I served 4 years. I started at Timberland as an overnight computer operator, and over time my job title progressed to Computer Operations Supervisor then Computer Operations Manager.Professional responsibilities have evolved from managing the infrastructure and personnel of the Timberland global data center, including Change Management, to oversight of the migration of Timberland processing to the VF regional data centers in Europe, Asia, and North Carolina. My current focus includes global data backups and supervision of annual Disaster Recover exercises for all regional data centers.Aspects of IT Management and Operations that I am passionate about:· Lifecycle Management.· Continuous Improvement.· Repeatable processes with room for pragmatic solutions instead of rigid adherence. So, what makes me jump out of bed every morning, ready to face another day in the world of computing and cables? The short answer-COLLABORATION.I try to position myself as a go-to person. I want to help, even in areas outside of my own expertise. I enjoy solving problems and believe in asking questions until I understand what all sides of a given situation might be facing. My goal is to foster goodwill and trust within our IT organization. My rewards are strong relationships based on mutual respect. We work hard together, we have fun together, we take care of each other. I love my job and I am proud of the company I work for.To borrow a piece from the VF mission statement:“We strive to be a force for good in the world. It’s what people expect from us, and what we expect from ourselves.”

Stratham, Nh - Timberland Headquarters Of Vf Corp
In September of 2011, Timberland was acquired by VF Corporation. The majority of Timberland processing has transitioned to other VF data centers, but I continue to maintain mostly 24x7 staffing for the remaining applications that have not been upgraded and transitioned as part of the larger VF refresh strategy. My team and I now coordinate with off shore support teams for Timberland, and other VF remote sites. We are SMEs for all remaining legacy hardware, applications and tools. We have also expanded into other roles formerly filled by onsite support teams as we are able to help fill in any gaps in our support model.Specific Accomplishments:Coordinated with application integration project teams to protect and minimize the disruption of the Timberland business processes and users, as applications are upgraded and moved to platforms at other sites. In 2013 worked with the IBM support team to plan and oversee the successful first full scale test of the new VF corporate Disaster Recovery process.Decommissioning, removal, and disposal of legacy hardware as applications and hardware are migrated or upgraded through the integration process, to remain prepared for any incoming hardware and functionality. Oversight and management of the VF Remote Sites offshore backup team. Standardizing and documenting procedures, upgrading backup platforms to current versions, and identifying process gaps. Subject Matter Expert for multiple integration projects this year, to include storage and fiber port migration and consolidation, and migration from the legacy network domain.
Stratham, New Hampshire
In November of 2006 I became the Computer Operations Supervisor. In 2011 my title was changed to Computer Operations Manager to reflect the evolution of my responsibilities, which included the smooth day to day running of the Timberland HQ data center, and processing for Timberland worldwide, 24x7x365, with a crew of eight operators. I was responsible for change management oversight, data center infrastructure, processing and backups, and working with the technical teams to plan all hardware and software upgrades and implementations. I worked with the engineering groups to develop and enforce processes and policies within the computer operations and larger IT support team for all new installation, upgrades, and implementations. Specific accomplishments:In 2007 I selected and oversaw installation of a new UPS, PDU, and power bus system which involved shutting down the Timberland headquarters data center. This required the coordination of all IT and business teams to stop all processing worldwide for several hours, and was accomplished without impacting SLAs or the business users. Imposed order on the equipment racks and cabling, after years of organic growth. All electrical cables were replaced and converted to a redundant bus system without impacting the business. I owned oversight and enforcement of the Timberland change management process as part of my role to safeguard the smooth running of the production environment. I coordinated with the software and hardware teams to ensure only sustainable processes were implemented for all new applications, programs and hardware. As the environment became more complex we converted to exception based monitoring, utilizing the HP Openview Network Node Manager and Console tools.I collaborated on virtualization projects, selection of and migration to new backup platforms, and the selection and migration to ServiceNow as our asset, incident, request, and problem management system under the ITIL framework.
