Robin has a BFA cum laude from the University of Houston in studio art/metalsmithing. She has made jewelry and been a lapidary for 10 years, being known for her unusual stones and color combinations in her jewelry. She's been a seamstress since pre-teen years and a knitter for over 50 years. Always wanting to make her own cloth, it was not until 1997 that she was able to purchase a loom and begin weaving. In 1999 she started spinning and is now a certified judge of handspun yarn. She has been dyeing her own fiber and yarn since she began weaving and spinning. In addition to selling her handwovens, handpainted yarn and fiber at shows around the country, she has developed a line of one-of-a-kind fused dichroic glass buttons called “Perfect Buttons.” She relocated to New Mexico in 2003. Robin teaches knitting, weaving, dyeing and glass fusing in her studio in Edgewood, New Mexico (25 miles east of Albuquerque), and at other conferences around the Southwest. Perfect Buttons, handwoven wearables, handpainted yarns, rovings and yarn kits are available at the Tapestry Gallery in Madrid, NM, handwoven wearables at Karen Melfi Gallery on Canyon Rd in Santa Fe, NM, handwoven wearables and buttons at Espanola Valley Fiber Arts Center, Espanola, NM, and buttons at Nob Hill Fabrics in Albuquerque. Robin is a member of Las Aranas Spinners & Weavers Guild, Intermountain Weavers, board member of the New Mexico Fiber Artisans, and on the New Mexico Fiber Arts Trails. Robin has won many awards for her handspun yarn, handknitted garments, felted hats, and handwoven wearables. She specializes in using mixed warps of various yarns and novelties. Her “Funky Fur Jacket” was accepted into the HGA Fashion Show at Convergence in Albuquerque; Material Matrix, Houston; won “best wearable” at Fibers Celebrated 2011 in Durango, Colorado, and invited to participate in “Needles & Pins” at Fuller Lodge in Los Alamos, NM..
