I have over 35 years of experience in Medicine caring for underserved communities, and people of color. My focus is on transforming the health and wellbeing of individuals through dialogue, relationship, high quality integrative and interdisciplinary care, and guidance on navigating the American health care system. I have success as a leader in the health industry and in medical education as a professor for physician assistants/associates, and can work with organizations wanting to move forward in emphasizing diversity, cultural humility, and supporting the health an wellbeing of their union members or diverse corporate workforce. My background includes rigorous medical education and training in Internal Medicine in New York City at NYU Medical School and Columbia's Harlem Hospital. I served as Director of Ambulatory Care before becoming the Chief of Internal Medicine at Massachusetts' Shattuck Public Health Hospital in Boston.Other experience includes prison health care, including in Pre-Release Centers, and community health care at the Dimock Center in Roxbury.I am the Founder of Wellness Rox DPC - a Direct Care Center which provides an option for local residents and people of color who want culturally relevant comprehensive and customized care that uses natural, integrative, preventive options along with typical allopathic medical choices.I founded ReImagining Health Care & Wellness Forums, the signature community educational events offered by The Wellness Collaborative, Inc, a nonprofit of which I am a Co-Founder.I am Board Certified in Internal Medicine, and received the MA Rebecca Lee Award for Community Service.Other interests include public health, healthy communities, healthy eating, graduate-level medical education, and mentoring young people for promoting early self care and entry into the health careers pathway.
