As an associate researcher, I worked on a NASA-sponsored project that uses 3D LiDAR cameras and 2D cameras to detect and classify vehicles in real-time traffic flow.Highlights:• Implemented a Computer Vision Model to detect and classify vehicles by finetuning the YoloV8 model on our own custom 2D roadside traffic flow dataset with over 2000 frames• Obtained a Mean Average Precision of 96%, improved by 11% compared to the previous model using YoloV7• Developed an API using Flask that leveraged the YoloV8 model for real-time vehicle classification
