It is my objective to secure a permanent position teaching high school English. I have several years of experience in education. I have taught students of several different grade levels in Reading, English grammar, and English literature.For the past few years, I have worked heavily with students Reading programs at both Hillcrest High School and Oak Park River Forest High School. While at Hillcrest High School I successfully stepped into a full time substituting position for a Reading heavy teaching position. I was only given a few days notice and I ended up substituting the entire school year. At Oak Park River Forest High School I have been working exclusively with Reading classes, utilizing my skills to fill any need as a T.A.I have developed several different strategies to capture my students’ attention. I always strive to create an enjoyable, engaging learning environment for my students. A few of my other teaching highlights include:○ Taught Reading to both Freshman and Sophomores from August 2010 - December 2010○ Taught Reading to Freshman in extended period classes from August 2013 - June 2014○ Facilitation of open, consistent, and supportive learning environments where students are motivated to learn and steered by their own successes and accomplishments.○ Utilization of a variety of teaching strategies, including whole/small group instruction, individualized attention, inquiry-based learning, and exploratory learning in order to make sure all students are successful.I am an upbeat, positive person with lots of energy. I have good computer and writing skills. I have spent my years in education cultivating my skills and know that I would be an asset to any school.
