About Robin Seifert
Before sending me jobs: * If the company or it's location lacks LGBTQ+ protections I will ignore* I only accept remote work due to health limitations * Include salary range, min-max hours expected per week-----Hook: I initially set out in life to become an electrical engineer but instead found a passion for writing code. This passion has led to the creation of amazing pieces of software, and the development of many skills. Which I’ve used to ensure that I develop software that is high quality on the first release. I never give in to the idea that good enough is sufficient, or the difficult is impossible. Instead, I always try harder to ensure that my work breaks these concepts.

Sr Software Engineer
CurrentSr Fullstack Engineer, current client 'Ford Motor Company' doing IT Staffing software. Primary focus is feature work on applications to assist internal customers. With one of the main products featuring room management and navigation for buildings. The other being a HR focused application.During my time on the team I've assisted with improving standards and quality of the applications. Bringing attention to the decline in automated checks, code coverage, documentation, standards, and many things rather standard in the software industry. As well really focusing down on learning and mastering our frontend technology to better implement/recommend improvements. Going from a direction of monolith pages to component driven architecture. Seeing a decrease in defect rates and improvement in feature delivery. Even given the team's growing pains scaling up from a few engineers to over 20.

This organization exists to build unofficial addons and modifications to existing games. Both as a way to improve the games and as a way to build a strong community around the games. At the moment the organization is focused on the game Minecraft. With well over 100 mods being developed and released to the public. Along with an active site, several game servers, and a growing community. Engineer 1 - Tech Lead / Head Developer
Continuation of existing roles and responsibilities. With the only changing being an official title as engineer and tech lead. Matching my already existing responsibilities driving standards, architecting our graphql & UI systems, and acting as a head developer for our consultants. To assist with ongoing projects I did shift from 80% ui and 20% API to more 50/50. Allowing me to act as a leadership for both halfs of the team. Specifically in regards to how we built our APIs and provided data to our internal UIs. Resulting in a noticeable improvement in turn around time of features. With my direct contributions seeing a sharp increase in features per sprint. With graphql specifically dropping repeat endpoint creation in some cases by 800%. In other cases dropping time to adjust for new projects by 50%+. Making it possible to cover more ground with fewer resources. This has especially shown for UI developers having the ability to ramp up faster for new functionality. As most endpoints can be customized from existing graph resolvers. Beyond this continued to focus on quality of development and individual team members. Focusing on mentorship of onboarded consultants. Resulting in lower rates of defects, improvements in automation testing, and strong functionality. Since I started this can easily be expressed as 1000% improvement in quality. With defects being rare and productivity improving in nearly every system I've touched.
Software Analyst
Employed as part of the EMPS/RMS team working on a range of internal retail management applications. Primary responsibility is javascript and java development. Secondary is mix of CI, DevOps, training, and other supporting roles. I spend a good chunk of my time supporting the team through transformation process. Including implementing current standards, updating legacy applications, proposing new solutions, optimizing both development and team processes, encouraging agile best practices, implementing automation, interviewing & training consultants, producing technical designs, etc. My title might be analyst but my role is to ensure the most value is produced on our projects.Rest of my time is spent developing a range of applications. Which includes several built from the ground up in React.js and a range of API microservices built in Spring Bootstrap. My core contribution in terms of development is code quality, data flow between layers, technical design, and React.js implementation. Java Developer
Contracted to work as part of the RMS team employed through SogetiStarted work fixing minor issues and improving UIs. Creating low level fixes, adjustments to UIs, and work expected of a intern or jr developer. My prior experience had been 90% game, plugin, and desktop app development. So I used this time heavily to catch up on skills and technologies used in the enterprise web. After a few months moved into legacy application optimization and improvement. Solving several critical optimization problems caused by legacy development. Applied knowledge in reverse engineering to document old code, target areas for improvement, scientifically show and test improvements, and implement strong fixes for issues. Including targeting missing documentation for existing code, unit testing, integration testing, code cleanup/optimization, and other critical areas missed in earlier development. Most applications had near zero automation nor automated testing.Key examples of efforts during this time were optimizing render flow of web UI to take actions from 5 mins to under 1 second. Taking backend implementation of complex data queries in the java layer from days to mins of runtime. Encouraging user interviewing to target improvements and developer postmortem to understand what went wrong.Moved from this into new feature development. Including one of the companies first agile projects. Helped the team and project implement agile effectively. Leveraged experience with extreme development (subtype of agile) and apply knowledge gained from university. Contributed beyond this with technical designs for implementation, reverser engineering legacy code, documenting unknowns & impacts, and eventually implementing wide reaching changes to the systems. Followed this with POC work on teams first react application, movement towards modernization, and development of new React & spring boot applications. Specifically moving from Spring MVC + JSP to React UIs decoupled from REST APIs.
