Plum Point Elementary, Calvert Elementary

During my tenure at Plum Point Elementary School, I served in a leadership capacity to promote quality instruction, technology, operations, emergency preparedness and security. I oversaw school efforts to curb energy use and championed environmental literacy. I chaired a number of key multidisciplinary teams that worked towards improved student outcomes. Additionally, I built and maintained a school website with numerous STEM and curriculum-linked resources for faculty, students and parents. In late 2010, I earned recognition for our "green school" efforts, being named green school of the quarter. In early 2011, I was awarded a Fulbright educator exchange fellowship to Japan during the subsequent summer.1. Complies with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.2. Complies with the administrative policies and procedures and current negotiated agreements for Calvert County Public Schools.3. Assists in the implementation and evaluation of all instructional programs and the overall administration of the school.4. Oversees the IEP process, including conducting IEP meetings in compliance with state and federal mandates.5. Relates to the students, staff and parents the mission, goals, expectations and policies of the school.6. Ensures a safe and orderly school environment.7. Performs administrative functions as assigned by the Principal of the school.8. Participates in selection, assignment and evaluation of professional and support staff.9. Assists in the planning and conducting of staff meetings to keep professional staff informed of administrative policy changes, new instructional programs and all facets of school function.10. Develops and maintains effective communications and positive relations with students, staff, parents, members of the community, and school-related resources.11. Communicates and collaborates with appropriate directors on matters of student discipline, transfer, placement, promotion, retention and record keeping.

In my capacity as supervisor of special education, I was responsible for training activities, observation and evaluation of personnel, procurement and adherence to grant requirements. Additionally, I ran special education programs, chaired IEP meetings and served as a liaison between schools and the department. I was responsible for ensuring state and federal mandates were followed.
