I progressed from staff RN to MDS Coordinator then to Director of Nursing in June 1999. As director of this 102 bed SNF/LTC facility, I overcame staffing shortages and tremendous agency use for LNA and RN/LPN positions. I trained and organized the staff and facility to become profitable at a time when facilities were losing money because of the new PPS system for Medicare A payment. My skills at systems organization helped to put complicated Genesis paperwork requirements into more simplified and manageable tasks for the staff. April 2003 our center won the corporate “Iceberg” award for meeting their goals. In 2003, I applied for the AHCA – step one award on behalf of Laurel Center and we won the award in August. In February 2004, The Office of Inspector General chose Laurel Center to participate in a survey for best practices because of our excellent survey history. In October 2005, computers and software commenced in nursing, and we were 100% compliant in three weeks (facilities on the system for over a year were still not compliant).

I corrected damage from breakdowns in procedure. I managed the hiring, training, and replacing of administrative personnel. I also generated payroll, which included commission programs and developed an earned time program for holiday and sick pay. I supervised the creation of policy and procedure manuals for all administrative functions. I monitored all billing, sales proposals, leads, and service contracts.April 1983 – November 1990: I promote a newly created office supply division and trained new hires into their positions. I was the primary assistant in researching computer software in 1986 and in the state of the art computer conversion in 1987, which included programming of control record to make the software run according to how the company functioned.
