The NYRDC provides researchers the opportunity to engage in approved projects using restricted-access microdata collected by U.S. Census Bureau, National Center for Health Statistics, and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. I conduct health policy research on a wide range of topics including access to healthcare, food insecurity, and COVID-19. My main responsibility is to collect, analyze, and synthesize data to inform the Executive Director's decision-making and research direction. In addition, I perform statistical analysis on large bodies of data using STATA and manage 25 project timelines with various deadlines, reporting milestones, and compliance requirements to ensure continued access to databases. I conducted a comparative analysis on the top 25 rated International Affairs graduate programs in the US and abroad to inform strategic curriculum and administrative development. I presented my findings and recommendations to the Baruch College Department Heads. One of my recommendations, increasing concentration requirements, has already been implemented.2. Wild Bird Fund is NYC’s only medical and rehabilitation center for native and passing migrant wildlife. They provide education about the city’s diverse wildlife and how to help it thrive. I had the privilege of studying rehabilitation under WBF's Founder and Director Rita McMahon. My primary responsibility was the care and rehabilitation of our patients which fluctuated between 60-120 birds depending on the season. I fulfilled this responsibility in three ways. They provide education about the city’s diverse wildlife and how to help it thrive. I had the privilege of studying rehabilitation under WBF's Founder and Director Rita McMahon. My primary responsibility was the care and rehabilitation of our patients which fluctuated between 60-120 birds depending on the season. I fulfilled this responsibility in three ways. The first was to implement treatment processes and track and evaluate patient progress and outcomes. The second was to supervise, manage, and train a rotating team of 5-10 staff, interns, and volunteers. I trained groups in animal handling, species specific diets and feeding techniques, medical procedures (if advanced), infection control, and cleaning protocols. Lastly, I facilitated advocacy and conservation efforts through community outreach programs that included educational events, facility tours, and demonstrations. Working at WBF taught me how to learn and adapt within a fast-paced, high-stress, high-intensity work environment. The organization also allowed me to manage a dedicated group of volunteers. A joint research project between John Jay College and FBI to perform in-depth study of suicide by cop. Suicide by cop is a method in which a suicidal individual deliberately behaves in a threatening manner, with intent to provoke a lethal response from a law enforcement officer. I collected and analyzed numerous confidential sources of qualitative data to establish statistically relevant factors associated with suicide by cop. Joint research project of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and John Jay College. Collected, analyzed, and coded all Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity pleas in New York County from 1988-1997 using confidential materials obtained from courts, hospital, and police records. Trained and supervised three research assistants in coding and confidentiality protocols.
