About Robin Valadares
During my time at Queen’s University, I didn’t just study Kinesiology—I lived it. As the varsity basketball trainer, I was in the trenches, helping athletes push their limits both on and off the court. Afterward, I took my passion to the next level by earning a Master of Science in Physiotherapy at McMaster University.Sports are in my blood. A former soccer player with a deep love for the game, I had the honor of being an on-field therapist at the 2015 Pan Am Games. My dedication to manual therapy has earned me Level 3 certification from the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. As a golf enthusiast, I turned my passion into expertise, becoming a Titleist Performance Institute Medical Level 3 practitioner, specializing in golf-specific rehab. I also share my knowledge as an Associate Clinical Professor (Adjunct) at McMaster University’s School of Rehabilitation Sciences.Don’t get me wrong—I love being a physiotherapist. There’s nothing like seeing the impact on my clients' lives. But I realized early on that this career alone wouldn’t fulfill my dreams of early retirement and financial freedom.In my 12+ years of practice, I’ve taken countless specialized courses, from manual therapy to concussion management. Yet, while the traditional educational system (TES) made me a skilled technician, it didn’t prepare me for real-world financial challenges.TES taught me to 'feel' intervertebral motion and stress test the dorsal calcaneocuboid ligament, but not how to escape student debt, understand the stock market, or buy my first home. I wanted more than a life of trading time for money, so I carved out my own path.Frustrated with the rat race, I became my own financial literacy educator. No formal business or economics degree—just hard-earned knowledge from self-education, networking, trial and error, and plenty of failures. Now, I help others navigate these essential financial skills, blending my love for physiotherapy with a mission to empower others financially
