I oversee and manage all Human Resource functions, including training, recruitment, performance management, labor relations, protected leave, accommodations and diversity, equity and inclusion. I also manage safety and wellness, facilities, and mail and imaging services. I support large projects affecting the workforce and change management efforts for the agency.

I lead and manage the Workforce Strategies Section. In this position, I define and build a positive, inclusive culture that encourages collaboration, innovation and high performance. My work includes providing the vision and direction for the section, set goals and expectations, manage risks, coach teams and staff, navigate change, use customer feedback to make improvements and achieve results. I build and monitor business and project plans to achieve strategic and operational priorities. I develop and present information through briefings and other methods to various stakeholders including executive and cabinet leadership. • I directly supervise two managers and a program assistant, and indirectly manage two teams of workforce/HR analysts and strategists. Responsibilities include recruitment; interviewing; recommending hires; new employee onboarding; staff engagement and development; planning and prioritizing work; managing performance; and approving leave, training, travel and equipment.• I provide strategic advice to executives and senior leaders on high-profile, high-risk, high-impact orother sensitive topics related to the section’s work.• I partner with the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) Workforce Support & DevelopmentDivision on relevant policies, strategies and services, including but not limited to statewide trainingpriorities, including providing strategic input on DES’ eLearning plan and classroom trainings,coordinating and managing work with internal subject matter experts, and helping to develop andreview draft curriculum.• I co-lead statewide efforts on data and investigations, including planning and leading meetings, providing guidance and supporting the development of recommendations to improve complaints and investigations processes and data, and the use of data to assess and improve agency work environments.

I support and advise Washington state agencies in labor relations engagement and I bargain collective bargaining agreements on behalf of the state.

My responsibilities include collective bargaining agreement negotiations, representing the union during pre-arbitration and mediation meetings, prepping files for arbitration, and bargaining on changes to wages and working conditions during the term of the contract. I also recruit teams for various negotiations tables and chair several statewide labor-management committees that meet quarterly.

I drafted correspondence, attended forums and events as a representative of the campaign, planned fundraisers and did outreach, solicited volunteers and devoted time and energy to organizing other events. I also proofed lit pieces, fielded calls and questions, and kept the representative's schedule up-to-date when necessary.

I taught English to Korean students in a private English academy in the city of Gwangju, South Korea.
