RESPONSIBILITIES: • Design and conceptualisation of visuals of all editorial material for magazine as well as all inserts, promotional material and special publications. Ensuring that they stay consistent with the title’s identity and the requirements and vision of the editor. This often requires dealing with external clients and finding a balance between their briefs and the identity of our brand.• Briefing and sourcing of photographers, shoot locations and illustrators best suited for the project at hand.• Overseeing freelance designers to ensure he or she sticks to the above mentioned.• Ensuring that above mentioned team member is fully equipped technically and up to date with latest trends in the industry/design. This involves knowing what the new trends and software developments are. • Dealing with the repro department to ensure all images are retouched to meet the quality the Editor and I expect.• Final approval/colour pass of the cover on press.• Ensuring that all layouts, website and marketing material stay within the identity guidelines of publication/brand. • Checking print ready material with editor before uploading to printers.• Ensuring that each issue and project is achieved and backed up on hard copy and server.• Managing and ensuring that all projects stay within the allocated art department budget.
