My resume describes what my duties were although I often went above and beyond my job description., on many, many occassons. I AM FAR MORE THAN MY RESUME DESCRIBES. I have worn many hats throughout my years at NYUCD from cashier, to cash counter, to exclusive Orthodontic biller as well as MetLife claims manager. I worked very closely with my former manager since we had seven department directors where we had to submit reports of funds received by NY State Medicaid and Medicaid Managed Care Plans and funds due to NYUCD by the State. Research and provided information to NY State OIG office for NY State audit of Medicaid claims previously billed. Always in the leader position, training staff and coaching staff while improving processes and offering advice on the best billing practices for optimal returns. Tackled claims from birth to closing. Attended meetings with upper management to submit these reports and to clarify department processes. Worked with upper management and administrators to start the NYU Dental Van that offers outreach dentistry. My work was used with IT as a guide to measure productivity. The supervisor position was eliminated once the former supervisor departed and I was promoted to senior staff person, basically a supervisor with no authority but it served me well to know how to treat people and motivate them to do well and to know/learn as much as they can. My role changed under new management and the department then focused on claims denial management. ETC. My proudest moment was to know that I was a very capable and effective consultant to a private practice where funds that they thought were lost were reconciled with insurance companies on Saturdays only when there are no insurance company staff available on Saturdays. I am good at most things and my resume only shows what my job description was, it sure does not say or confirm all that I did outside of my job description.
