My area of network neuroscience specialty includes applying an understanding of music for probing and revealing hidden aspects of the brain's complex system for optimization as well as restoration in functionality. I apply network science methods to human neuroimaging data, particularly fMRi and EEG/ERP data. As a concert violinist and network neuroscientist, I am interested in cross-cutting, interdisciplinary research. Interests include understanding the distinct changes in brain networks when listening to preferential music and how these response fluctuations influence emotional systems link to memory encoding, human motivational behaviors, and deep learning (strong AI). I am also interested in the effects of use-dependent and intensive musical training on structural and functional brain networks that are utilized within other cognitive domains, such as computational thinking, machine learning, abstract thought, and creativity. I have a special interest in understanding multi-fractal motifs in functional brain networks and, ideally, how functional connectivity responses to music might provide a non-invasive clinical means for unraveling and interpreting compromised brain states.
