Stones is one of Shell’s Flagship projects; a deepwater hub development in the frontier Paleogene play in the Walker Ridge area of the US Gulf of Mexico. It was discovered in 2005 and Final Investment Decision taken in early 2013. On completion Stones will be the deepest production facility in the world and will constitute Shell’s first FPSO development in the United States. Capital expenditure for the first phase of the development will be several billion dollars. The Stones Venture Manager is accountable for delivery of all aspects of the Stones field development - technical, commercial, operational.

Sakhalin Region, Russian Federation

The Lunskoye platform produces the feed gas for the Sakhalin II Integrated Oil and Gas project, which in 2010 provided 5% of global LNG supply and 20% of Asia’s total gas supply. The facility consisted of a 23,000 Te topsides and a 100,000 Te Concrete GBS, with 1.8 bcf/day gas and 70,000 bbl/day condensate capacity. At installation, it was the first purpose built production platform offshore Russia. As the Engineering Manager for Lunskoye I had four key areas of responsibility:• Building and leading the Lunskoye Engineering Team.• Management of the AMEC contract for the topsides design of the Lunskoye and PA-B platforms.• Delivery of the overall Lunskoye topsides design package and associated construction, commissioning and procurement documentation and data from 65% construction complete through startup and handover to operations. • Completion and handover of AMEC design documentation to Sakhalin Energy.

Responsible for the development of the Lunskoye A and Piltun B Transition Plans. These plans define how the facilities and associated contracts, materials, resources and responsibilities are handed over from the Project to an Operating Asset which includes the definition of handover points and establishing agreed criteria for handover. The principal challenge was establishing consensus, both within the project and between Project and Asset on how this transition should be conducted.

Co-located with the Draugen development team in Stavanger, but reporting through Project Engineeringorganization in Aberdeen. Adopted the role of Opportunity Delivery Leader (ODL) on new opportunities,responsible for progressing an opportunity from Initiation to Execution. Highlights include an infill drilling program, a produced water management project and a compression upgrade.

Senior Structural Engineer in the Offshore Projects group and NAM Offshore Structures Technical Authority. Highlights include the design, construction and installation of the K7-FB and K15-FK platforms and associated brownfield scope and front end engineering on the Neptunus project.

London, United Kingdom

Engineer in the Hydrodynamics department; highlights include a nine month secondment to Transocean in Paris in support of their global drilling fleet, work as a consultant to Shell on the installation of their Skiff platform by jack up drilling rig and the site survey of Ash Shihr harbor in Yemen.
