A passion for places and not spaces has inspired me move into town planning and urban design. This transition has evolved from managing the creative process in Perth, Canberra and London in design studios to planning communities in Western Australia and Malaysia. My town planning experience includes both local government and private consultancy in Western Australia. My planning career has taken me from structure planning for outer ring cities, statutory planning of urban development and now a future cities focus. My background in project management and stakeholder liaison has assisted with the planning and project management of developments. My focus has been liaising with government agencies to find the best possible outcome for the client and future community. This process has included subdivision design, structure planning, scheme amendments and development approval. I enjoy working with clients and a team of professionals to develop and deliver a clear vision for my client’s projects. Having previously managed a design studio my interests are in quality design balanced with economic outcomes. As the Planning Institute of Australia Western Australia (PIA WA) Division Policy Convenor since 2008 I review and comment on local, state and national planning policy on behalf of the PIA membership. There have been a number of highlights; representing PIA as a guest speaker at the ‘Seismic Reform: Planning Reform in Western Australia, is it Going Too Far Too Fast?’, coordinating 28 town planners to deliver a PIA WA response to the Private Certification Trial, mentoring young planners and delivering on policy priority areas.

  I am a senior member of the urban design team. I lead statutory, strategic and urban design projects for both private and government clients.
