About Robin Avni
As a visual storyteller, Robin holds fast to the magic of many mediums – from digital design to works created by the touch of the human hand. She is a creative veteran in the media and high-tech industries, with 20+ years in media and publishing, as well as the creative management of innovative, award-winning design teams and high-profile projects. Robin has provided creative direction and design for books, magazines, software, and digital media, as well as led strategic creative planning for companies and civic organizations. As a professor of Design at she managed several academic/corporate projects including collaborations with Meta, Amazon, and Microsoft to explore the creative possibilities of the HoloLens mixed reality technology. She was an adjunct professor at the University of Washington instructing graduate students in visual thinking and communication.Robin received a BA in journalism and design from Indiana University in Bloomington and was the recipient of the Knight-Wallace Journalism Fellowship at the University of Michigan, a post-graduate grant program awarded for outstanding achievement in journalism. She holds a Master of Communication in Digital Media from the University of Washington where her graduate research focused on visual communication, social media, and user-centered creativity. As a Washington State Arts Commissioner, appointed in 2019 by Governor Jay Inslee, she currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Commission as a statewide advocate for the arts.
