Assisted with research involving the isolation bacterial and archaeal 16S rRNA sequences to identify the nitrifying microorganisms in a constructed sewage treatment wetland in Akumal Mexico.PCR was used to amplify these sequences which are quantified using a NanoDrop spectrometer and visualized on electrophoresis gels.Performed plasmid preparation and cleanup for sequencing.Assisted with cycle sequencing on isolated bacterial plasmid DNA.Analyzed sequence data of more than 20 bacterial isolates and utilized the BLAST database to identify the dominant species present in a nutrient limited enrichment culture.
