CurrentHenderson is a 1,000+ person, $230MM building systems firm with 12 offices nationwide. We provide engineering, design, and construction management services with specialized expertise spanning six vertical markets: business, venue, healthcare, retail, grocery & distribution, and community.I serve as the Chair of the Board for Henderson Companies (our parent company). The 9-person Board of Directors includes seven internal directors and two independent directors, providing fiduciary oversight to the company's Executive Committee.My role at Henderson as CSO includes leading the 20-person marketing/BD/client experience teams nationwide that support the entire client journey; setting overall business growth strategy and direction; and running the firm’s strategic planning process, including facilitating meetings, managing outside facilitators, and developing strategy and execution plans. - Develop the firm's five-year strategic plan and lead the annual business planning process- Led the company through a significant re-branding initiative, restructuring the company by merging five sub-brands into the parent brand- Served as project manager during a major company restructure, leading the 50-year-old firm to align around six vertical markets (sectors) - instead of by region - in order to improve our client experience- Developed series of educational sessions for technical staff (top 10 soft skills for technical staff; becoming a brand ambassador; getting a seat at the table; client relationship development; presentation training; and more)- Created a company-wide Business Development Academy to train seller-doers on developing and maintaining client relationships- Directed sales and marketing strategies that helped double the size of the firm in five years through explosive growth (400 employees from 1970-2013; then to 900 employees from 2014-2019)
