I was extended after I completed the Print Server project to help with the build and deployment of Windows 7, this is varied and challenging and keeps me constantly thinking on my feet. An NHS Windows 7 Migration has various requirements for different clinical softwares which can sometimes prove challenging. Alongside the Windows 7 build and deployment I was involved in the end of a upgrade to the exchange environment from single server to a High Availabilty DAG. Also to aid and cover with Third Line Support work.This Role includes: Using Landesk Provisioning to image machines Creating Landesk Packages for various softwares & Application Deployment Testing various softwares to ensure functionality Exchange 2010 Support Testing DAG Updating GPO to be inline with Windows 7 Building Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server Assisting First and Second Line Support VMware Support McAfee EPO and Encryption Building a Server 2008 R2 with Exchange 2010 Edge Server

I was given the opportunity to undertake a contract at Birmingham Women’s Hospital to support the demerger of Birmingham Women’s Hospital and University Hospital of Birmingham. This was an AD and Exchange Migration of over 2000 accounts. This has been a challenging fast-paced task.The role has included: Assisiting in AD Migrations Exchange Migrations Troubleshooting migration issues Using LANDesk for Support Maintaining SLA’s Desk side and remote support Application Deployment Used Quest for AD, Exchange and PC migration. Using and troubleshooting Exchange 2010 Updating Group Policies for Windows 7 from XP Implementing Scripts to automate user creation using Powershell and VBA Auditing accounts on servers DNS changes to servers and pc’s Aiding and advising First line Support during Migration

The role was a busy and varied one that has allowed me to improve my IT skills and understand better the IT environment in the workplace.The role has included: First and Second line Desktop Support Telephone advice Effective communication with client and supplier Hardware Maintenance Setting up and maintaining printers Software and Hardware Register creation and upkeep Exchange Server Management Active Directory Administration VBA Scripting Health and Safety awareness and planning Project to migrate all users to thin client Research and advise on best practice in problem solving and project planning.
