The book Start-up Survival gives you real, honest answers from experienced industry leaders. It’s a crash course on how to grow your business successfully and how you can avoid making the most common mistakes. Unlike other startup books, it’s not some collection of vague axioms or loose theories; it’s a clear guide of Dos and Don’ts, best practices and simple prescriptions that have proven their value to thousands of entrepreneurs before. “Jeroen and Robin guide you through the possible pitfalls in the startup landscape”- Professor of Entrepreneurship at Vlerick Business School
During my master degree in management, I met professor Goldchstein. After telling him about the patenting adventure, he invited me as a guest lecturer for the master students civil engineering and business engineering in 'Business Aspects of Software Industry'.To these engineers, I told the same story as I always do at Howest University about developing, patenting, and negotiating my innovative product.
I'm grateful to tell my story every year at Howest University to the undergraduates in IT. I have experienced a unique path at this university myself; Instead of following an internship in a company, I choose to put my innovative product on the market. The product that I had developed was able to charge laptops wirelessly and fascinated many students and teachers. It just had to be on the market. I surrounded myself with a network of specialists and top entrepreneurs to assist me in this adventure. Patenting and selling the patent seemed to be the ideal strategy for my situation, so I pivoted my strategy.I submerged myself in the world of Intellectual Property rights and was assisted by a few patent attorneys. With their expertise, I wrote my patent and filed it. I negotiated with market leaders like Lenovo to sell the patent.Every year, the guest lecture I give is a fantastic way to bring my story in a passionate, enthusiastic manner with the developers of the future.
