As a UI designer at a leading People Operations software provider, I drove the design vision across the Kallidus suite of products, focusing on brand, visual and interaction design.I applied my UI design, research and strategy skills collaborating with multiple agile product development teams to design and build fully accessible experiences. I advocated empathy for real users, adding value to products through the focus of user needs, regularly conducting usability studies and research. I visualised and communicated design approaches in a lean, iterative way through low-fidelity sketching, collaborative pairing with front-end developers and high-fidelity Figma mock-ups. As UI design lead on the Sapling product team, I also provided strategic design direction on the evolution of the Kallidus visual language to accommodate a brand acquisition. Here, I’ve been responsible for visualising and robustly testing visual language concepts through design critiques and Usability Hub perception testing, and have gone on to lead a team of UI designers to build scalable Figma component libraries, using a common atomic design system. I was also responsible for our living online style-guides, publishing design rationale and design specs within living online style-guides. Additionally as ‘Design system champion’, I was responsible for providing design governance across all products, making sure they adhere to our design system principles and guidelines.

As a Digital Brand Designer within the Content Consumption domain, I helped guide the application and the development of visual languages within Springer Nature's portfolio of brands, including Nature Research, Springer and BioMed Central. Collaborating in cross-functional product development teams, I practised user-centred design principles within a fully iterative and lean workflow to build engaging and fully accessible experiences. Designing and building for the end-user, starting simple and incrementing, modelling and testing as quickly and often as possible. Collaborating with business analysts, product owners, project managers, front-end developers, I helped facilitate design as a conversation, interpreting key business values into product design principles. I also facilitated the development of brand principles, collaboratively interpreting them into design qualities, helping create cohesive, effective design patterns across the flagship brands.
