Robin joined the Met Police as an electronics apprentice in 1986 and was soon assigned to the Forensic Audio Laboratory. He became head of that laboratory in 2002 and then for Video and Audio forensics in 2010. Seven years later, he took responsibility for technical leadership of complex casework for Computer, Phone, Cell Site, Evidence Presentation, Video and Audio in the Met's central forensic laboratories in Lambeth and in 2019 was head of all Digital Forensics in the Met. Robin joined the SFO in June 2020 at the height of the COVID pandemic where he leads the evidence management, graphics and digital forensic units. He was a technical consultant to the NPCC CCTV capabilities development program and instigated the now bi-annual Forensic Video Experts Group conferences. Robin is a keen technology user and proponent, is a trustee and senior officer for a large almshouse and runs a small live sound PA business in Kent.
