My job is to implement pixel-perfect responsive web builds in WordPress based on the design files provided by our team of designers. I am responsible for executing new website builds, as well as providing feature and template updates to existing websites across a portfolio of client websites. I often use my knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript and responsive design to create any custom functionality needed for certain projects. I also help manage the server where our clients' sites are hosted, and ensure that all websites are optimized for performance, speed, and security.

I teach a variety of courses in the Web & Digital Design department of the School of Cybersecurity and Information Technology. My current teaching is focused on teaching Game Design (CMST 315) and Virtual Reality Design (CMST 330) courses, where I help students understand the basics of the C# programming language and the Unity 3D Engine. I currently teach online, but I have also taught in hybrid courses, meeting with students face-to-face once a week and teaching the rest of the week in the online classroom. I have also taught courses in Image Editing (CMST 325), where students are introduced to best practices in digital image editing using Photoshop, and Digital Media and Society (CMST 301), a course that explores how digital media has transformed the communication of ideas in society and how to make responsible choices in the creation and consumption of digital media.

I create websites for small business owners and nonprofits, and coordinate the design of visual branding including logo design, business card creation, and brochure layout. I work with companies locally, however, I work with many of my clients remotely, and I'm still able to maintain a high level of contact and communication through the process in order to complete high quality jobs on time. I occasionally work with interns or independent contractors and act as a supervisor for large-scale projects.

I teach web development courses for graduate students in the Digital Arts program, and I also created a course to teach WordPress web development to students studying in non-digital arts fields. I also redesigned and teach the DA 610: Media on the Internet course, a 3-credit part-practical, part-theoretical course that teaches students how to use HTML and CSS to create websites and internet art pieces designed specifically for the web browser. Students gain knowledge on internet art history and remix culture through projects and artwork critiques. These courses are delivered to graduate students exclusively online.

I taught students in the Hampton University Honors College program how to develop personal websites for their professional online presence using the WordPress platform. Students learn the basics of using a CMS (content management system), and learn how to add useful plugins to enhance the content of their website. I I teach basic design principles, including how to choose the best fonts, colors, images and layouts to help them to stand out and effectively present themselves online in a professional manner.

I worked with college students, mainly adult learners, to help them become better speakers, engaging presenters, and how to master the art of persuasion by teaching Public Speaking courses. I also taught an Information Literacy course that helped students learn how to do proper research, study better, and find information more effectively using the internet and other digital resources.

I was responsible for motivating staff, planning activities, coordinating routine staff meetings, handling student/parental/staff concerns, overseeing set-up of labs, and fostering a fun environment in for students learning new technology in multimedia and gaming production at summer camps held at College of William & Mary, American University, and The Ohio State University. I instructed campers ages 10 – 17 in digital video editing, web design, and video game creation.

I taught and developed curriculum for an after school program in conjunction with Inglewood Unified School District, teaching video production skills to elementary, middle school, and adult school students. I also did freelance video editing of various video projects as needed.

I worked as the Multimedia Production Instructor at New Village Charter High School in Los Angeles, CA – a girls-only school in which 60% of the students were pregnant and/or parenting. I developed curriculum from scratch for courses in Video Production, Music Business, Audio Recording Techniques, and Video Game Design.
