“You bring a sense of humor to a sometimes mundane job.” That’s the response I got when I asked one of my coworkers – a developer – what differentiated me from the others on our team. At first I didn’t know what to make of it. He then did add, “Thoroughness and breadth of subject matter expertise.” That made me feel better. Those words had more sound bite.After I thought on what he said some more, it occurred to me that those first words were actually more telling. It was an indication of my passion to understand users’ pain points and to provide a solution that not only accomplished an easy and efficient experience but also one that was enjoyable even in the subtleties. Lighten the mood of a dreary but necessary task.It was also an indication of my passion to support my team members, of my persistent in driving to a solution and still being able to laugh along the way.
