I led development of Planet’s analytic data feeds, from foundational product discovery to execution with an 8-person engineering team. I also worked closely with the sales engineering team and two external partners to cultivate five application prototypes relying on a combination of machine learning models and computer vision algorithms.

I ran a data science consulting business serving the World Bank, WRI, RFF, and others. We worked to bring open source software to environmental modeling, in one case achieving a 100,000x speedup by rewriting a model in Python/Numpy.

I co-created the algorithm and data pipeline for a satellite-based forest monitoring system. When our Windows desktops choked under the load, I led our efforts to build a distributed Python/Linux pipeline on AWS.
