As a foundation to my entire career, I worked as a BSN graduate, then as a RN on an Orthopedic/Medical Surgical unit doing primary nursing for up to 10 patients at a time with the help of a CNA. Having an opportunity to move to Florida, I then entered the home health field, again as a nurse at first, then being promoted into a marketing role as a Customer Relations Manager and then to Branch Manager. Upon returning to Kansas City, I did several sales-related positions earning a good reputation for my abilities to increase company profits. A Master of Arts degree (during which I focused on preventive medicine) was earned in the meantime, which lead to the position of "Community Education and Wellness Coordinator". A life-long passion of mine realized. I was thrilled to take part in creating the wellness program for the hospital staff and being able to be intimately involved in the Public Relations department too. After the program was disbanded due to company-wide departmental cuts, I spent a year on the Mother-Baby unit. Moving on into another sales position afforded me the chance to minimize non-traditional hours worked and to increase my income considerably. Eventually, I found that I was missing direct patient care. I completed an RN refresher course at JCCC in 2009 and I returned to the hospital setting, at Menorah Medical Center, as an RN in the Float Pool, working in Ortho/Neuro/Oncology/General Surgery (ONOGS)/Rehab units. I was then subsequently recruited to work in the Multispecialty Recovery Room where I spent the next 4+ yrs, earning the "Morris E. and Helen Van Raalte Dreyfus Memorial Nursing" award. Moving forward, I took a role as a Clinical Liaison, x 7 years, at Optum Infusion Pharmacy (FKA Axelacare Health Solutions and BriovaRx), a division of United Health Group. This role was intregral in providing education and coordination efforts for patients transitioning from a clinical setting to home on various IV therapies. There, I earned the "President's Club" award as the top Clinical Liaison, 2021, and was blessed to enjoy a trip to Hawaii! A promotion followed, to my current role as an Acute Care Specialist, in Feb. 2022, responsible for business growth.
