Following my election to this office in 2019, I was responsible for the operation of the Police Department, Fire Department, Code Administration, and Emergency Management in Saratoga Springs, a city of ~30,000 people. In office, I navigated a pandemic budget crisis that threatened the jobs of 40% of the city’s first responders, ultimately saving all police and fire jobs.-Managed a $30M budget and a 204-person department-Aggressively protected public health through science- and data-driven messaging, community outreach, and legislation-Protected the local business community through extensive education-based compliance efforts-Facilitated massive vaccination roll-out program resulting in the highest vaccination rate in NY State-Recognized by the New York State Comptroller for pandemic budget management
