I am a senior executive with a broad technical, engineering, and project management background. As a seasoned businessman, I have the ability to spot opportunities and deliver robust business solutions whilst maintaining firm commercial control, creating highly motivated environments in which to work and teams who deliver.During my career, I have raised funding for startups, growth capital and been involved in IPO's. I have also been fortunate to work with many talented people, in both the public and private sectors, many of whom I now count as friends. I am a strong advocate for education and equal opportunity and believe firmly in putting effort back into the Northeast region, which I now call home and from where I’ve had the chance to enjoy a rewarding and successful career.I was both proud and privileged to be Chairman of Gateshead College in the Northeast of England and led its transformation to an Ofsted Outstanding College, successful business, and the UK's top-performing College before stepping down in 2018. I had the opportunity to work with a progressive group of people who shared my vision that the individual student should be at the heart of everything the college did, ensuring they stood out in the jobs market and were given a platform to become successful in their future careers. In my professional career, I have worked across several highly regulated but diverse sectors that include, offshore, engineering, construction, medical and automotive. My primary business interests now focus on sustainable mobility and have worked with many pioneering companies from early-stage technical spinouts developing, electric drives, battery technology, telematics, and charging infrastructure through to complete vehicle development. In my spare time, I enjoy rugby – I played into my early 30's, then coached junior and youth rugby. I have a passion for fast-paced sports, motorcycling, and auto sports, especially F1, and take great pleasure in good food and wines. I also have a keen interest in all aspects of design, especially its application in the service sector to enhance customer centricity and business transformation.
