I’m a seasoned organizational leader of mission-driven progressive movements with a broad network of contacts and deep experience in politics, nonprofits, advocacy and philanthropy.My career has been dedicated to positive change since my first job in college as a canvasser for the Citizen Action Coalition. I’ve held senior leadership roles with the Democratic Party and the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund and my strategy and leadership were key in passing marriage equality and relationship recognition bills in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Since 2013, I’ve headed a political and fundraising consulting firm focused on impacting public policy and growing progressive leadership and resources at the state and local levels for a range of nonprofits and political action committees. My expertise includes organizational leadership, board relationships, and strategic planning for 501(c)3, 501(c)4 and 527 organizations. I lead and create strategies for fundraising and development, advocacy programs, coalition building, conference planning, campaigns and organizing. PresidentRmb Strategies Jan 2013 - PresentI founded RMB Strategies to continue focusing on impacting public policy and growing progressive leadership at the state and local level, with a special interest in helping underserved and underrepresented populations. I consult on project management, event planning, fundraising strategies, coalition building and candidate development for clients such as Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington and Rhode Islanders United for Marriage. For Justice at Stake, I organized the first Fair Courts Summit, a 3-day event for 300 people, to explore the role of the judiciary in progressive politics. For the Public Leadership Institute, I consulted on pro-choice policy, communications and lobbying strategy in NM, PA, OH and CO. For New American Leaders, I designed the first Advanced Candidate Training to help 1st and 2nd generation immigrants run for public office, and I continue to sit on their Board. And since 2015, I’ve worked with the League of Conservation Voters as Development Partnerships Consultant, raising $9M to date for climate issues, with an emphasis on major gifts and a portfolio of 150 donors.

I managed the Political Director and their team of 10 working on candidate endorsements and supporting campaigns with fundraising and strategy, interacting with state and national groups and provided strategic oversight to the team working with endorsed candidates. I also led the Director of Development and their team of 8, who managed outreach to major donors, foundations and corporate sponsorships, and I oversaw the 20th anniversary fundraising events nationally. Every year, I created Leadership Conferences in D.C., Houston and San Francisco, bringing in more than 250 LGBTQ elected officials from around the country for networking and support. And I had the honor of sitting on panels and leading seminars on candidate development at the International Gay and Lesbian Association annual meeting in Italy.

Metro AreaFounded and funded by software entrepreneur and philanthropist Tim Gill, The Gill Action Fund provides political resources and power to the LGBTQ movement with a specific goal of marriage equality. I came in as COO to build the organization from the ground up, deciding how to spend $5M in annual resources and which states to focus on. I helped found a new 501(c)4 organization, Gill Action, as well as a new Political Action Committee (527 organization), Political Outgiving.I was strategic lead in key states to help state leaders develop advocacy plans and strategies and helped pass relationship recognition bills in New Hampshire, Vermont and Wisconsin. -

Metro AreaThe Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, the nation’s largest LGBTQ political action committee, was rebuilding to tackle the 13 states that had not yet elected an LGBTQ person at any level. I oversaw the Political committee of 8 board members, developed advanced training for federal and statewide candidates, and traveled to all 13 states to recruit and advise candidates. We won 65% of our endorsed candidate campaigns and helped elect the first LGBTQ people in key states including Alabama, Nebraska and Idaho.
