My role within the core team entails:- Articulation of business requirement in BDD format suitable for automation using Specflow. - Automation of BDD steps using C#, Selenium and .NET in an Azure cloud environment.- Use of Ready API (aka SOAPUI) to directly exercise service interfaces (both manually and production of automated regression tests).- Agile scrum member of a cross-site team, contributing to planning, retrospective and daily stand-up sessions.- Reporting of test statistics for review by the team to track progress.

There is a combination of internal systems and hosted solutions that are integrated to provide stock control, order processing, management information etc. There is a major program of software and hardware updates being regularly rolled into live systems to address the changing needs of the business. As test manger my responsibilities include:• Estimating, planning, monitoring and reviewing all test activities for a portfolio of current projects.• Coordinating with other project stakeholders, such as the business, development, support, end users etc.• Line management and development of internal testing staff. • Liaison with external partners providing testing resources both onshore and offshore.• Budget management for the testing activity on a project.• Identifying and implementing process improvements such as a test management tool; and amalgamation of projects into work packages to make testing more efficient.• Controlling and coordinating updates and maintenance of the test environments.• Championing the migration to JIRA for defect tracking. This entailed maintenance of privilege sets and workflows to match team requirements.• Reviewing technical and logistical problems to contribute to solutions.

It is in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Content Aware Data Loss Prevention tools.• Grew the team from just myself to a maximum of 17 engineers. • Responsible for all forms of testing, both manual and automated. This includes system testing, performance testing, regression testing, VPAT testing and i18n testing. • Prioritised team’s workload to provide optimal balance of activities across product functionality. • Communicate effectively with team and colleagues to ensure that they maintain focus on the highest risk deliverables. • Collated information from the testing to both identify issues that need addressing and to report summary information to senior managers that can impact (or confirm) major project items such as release dates and features. • Hands-on experience with testing the product. In particular, by maintaining a suite of scripts to automatically smoke-test any product hand-offs into QA. • Designed a bespoke tool for automated testing that was built in-house. This allowed full integration of the distributed product and 3rd party applications.• Contribute to the user facing documentation; through review, and by composing suitable text for new features.• Designed and implemented significant enhancements to the Bugzilla defect tracking software to enable usage for managing requirements, tests and support logs. This saved licensing costs for separate tools and ensured complete integration of the various teams.• Built up a test lab with >100 physical machines to ensure maximum automated test usage.• Virtualised the test lab (ESXi) to reduce costs for power, cooling and administration.
