Working with Fair Trade Toronto I was able to grow from a Volunteer Coordinator which required strong organization and communication skills to schedule volunteers for events such as Toronto Pride and World Fair Trade day. It was important for me to know that our volunteers understood our values and missions so they can represent and advocate effectively. While working as the Volunteer Coordinator the position went hand in hand with Events Coordinator and at time both roles were filled by myself. Flexibility, organization and time management is needed to take on multiple positions that require planning, executing and management of staff. Following the position as Volunteer Coordinator I took on Project Manager where we designed an advocacy project using RBM which brought in a revenue to sustain our volunteer oriented non-profit. The project required extensive review and coordination. Pitching the project requires strong public speakers and motivated volunteers. Advocacy through this position requires behavioural change, needing a more in-depth M&E program. To launch the program techniques in proposal writing, finances, and policies were needed.

This Fair Trade organic coffee shop not only required customer service skills but also advocacy skills. Advocating for not only Fair Trade products but small businesses increaseed my ability to put passion behind products. Advocating at the workplace increased my public speaking skills and diversified my vision of a 'job'. This has helped with M&E as it taught me to see other aspects of decisions and results. The position also required training new staff, managing money, memorizing extensive menus and history of product locations.

HummPIRG is a student led club that works to educate and promote local and international development issues. During my position we advocated for Fair Trade Campus designation. I documented, submitted documents and request forms for our small budged that was granted by the student union.Designation awarded in January 2018 making Humber the first Fair Trade Designated College in Ontario.

Uniterra 3 is focused on employing and empowering women and youth in 14 countries around the world. As a researcher I conducted secondary and primary research to validate sub-sectors and partners in the Uniterra 3 program. More specifically in the tea sub-sector of Sri Lanka. Identifying gaps and integrations of cross-cutting themes such as gender mainstreaming, good governance and environments impact surrounding a potential economic project. This research project was a DFATD (Global Affairs Canada) funded program with the final paper contributing to a potential 5 year program.

Humber Lakeshore Campus

Promoting a responsible and sustainable campus through education and activities to further Humber's contributions to a cleaner future. Advocating for responsible recycling, Fair Trade Campus designation, and campus clean ups. This leadership position required responsible representation in the community.

A resident assistant (RA) to responsible for up to 85 students who live on campus while attending university/college. Working as a RA required monitoring transitions of students from high school life into college life. This meant hosting floor meetings and events. Many people moving away from home are lacking their usually support system. A RA is meant to help with that support systems and in many instances youth would confide confidential information which required additional support. Communicating this information without breaking trust was vital for success both in the position of a RA and your students. This also required detailed documentation and upholding responsible behaviours that could result in life altering decisions of student.

This popular ice cream shop hosted 80 flavours of ice cream at one time making memorization skills key in working in this establishment. Most days customer line up would be out the door which worked on patients in this high pressure, stressful environment. In my supervisor position understanding staff strengths and weaknesses determined what position would be assigned to which staff, allowing daily operations to run smoothly.
