Manager Of Technical Product Management
Responsibilities: In this role I managed a team of 5 to 6 Technical Product Managers, most of whom worked remotely. This team was tasked with delivering agent software for mainframes and midrange servers supported by the company's workload automation software product. My specific responsibilities included the everyday management of the team in terms of evaluating and approving/denying time off requests, setting and monitoring goals and objectives, conducting performance appraisals and one-on-one meetings and remote team stand-ups. I was also responsible to manage project dependencies between my team and the team responsible for delivering the Microsoft-based workload automation engine components of the product.Concurrently with this I also continued with individual contributor responsibilities as the SQL Server database administrator and database developer for the product database, I was responsible for creating and maintaining all T-SQL scripts related to the creation and upgrading of the product database, implementing high availability options such as replication and database mirroring and general database maintenance tasks such as database and transaction log backups, DBCC checks and index defragmentation.From June 2019 through January 2021 I took on the added responsibility of acting as an Agile facilitator for the team of developers assigned to the development of the companion product, Deploy. This included facilitating Agile ceremonies like stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives and grooming sessions as well as guiding work prioritization and scheduling and the team's daily use of Jira.Accomplishments:Developed a higher level of collaboration and communication amongst Technical Product Managers than previously existed through introducing regular standups and more structured and consistent development processes using tools like Rally Software and Jira.Successfully planned and executed the migration from Rally Software to Jira.
