The Association of Investigators and Security Professionals is uniquely placed to encompass the entire security industry and represent the industry as a whole. It is not solely a business association and seeks the input of all members of the security industry to help develop a stronger, more professional security industry, which is currently focused in Australia. Though the security business associations in Australia have provided great support for the industry, they lack the support of the industry itself. It is my hope that the Security Professionals in Australia will come together behind an association that can truly recognise them as members and who value who they are as individuals and corporations alike so we can provide the security Australia needs now and into the future.This will only occur if we start talking with each other, and I urge you to contact me if you are a Security Professional in Australia and strike up a conversation so we can work out the best way to improve our industry. Through years of discussions I have had with industry members, and through my own experiences is the short answer. It had become clear that electronic security members needed to look to further highlight and address (or continue to address, as ASIAL has done some great work already) the concerns electronic security members have.Of the concerns, the following 4 main items were my focus at the time; • Licencing and Regulation being ignored or not understood• Training problems in the industry• Professionalism and development needing further promotion• Preventing non-conforming equipment and dangerous equipment from being imported and installed
