I left employment as a senior area sales manager for a major pneumatics/industrial automation company mid 2018 to set up as a self employed headhunter/recruiter and I am very happy to be working in partnership with Osprey Engineering Solutions Ltd. I know all the pitfalls in the recruitment industry from all angles because I have experienced them myself as a sales person, a sales director employing my own teams and of course as a candidate at times. I was TUPE'd across - Rexroth Pneumatics was reborn as Aventics, during my time at Aventics there were many challenges associated with the sell off and with the set up of the new company, many of the team left the company - I saw this as opportunity to further career development. Although this was a challenging period in my career it was very rewarding. I was promoted to Senior Area Sales Manager and remained in this role until leaving the company to start my own business as a self employed headhunter/recruiter.

Area Sales Manager covering East/South East/South UK - responsible for selling Pneumatic automation equipment to end users, distributors, OEM's and key accounts on patch - I developed the companies largest systems customer in the UK and won many significant new business contracts. Rexroth Pneumatics was split from Bosch and bought by investment company Triton, the company that emerged is now Aventics

Business development role selling software for SCADA applications in process plants - I must admit this was not a technology I understood at the time, for me it was always important for me to be credible and experienced enough to identify customers issues and challenges and to confidently provide the correct technical and commercial solutions - I was unable to grasp this technology from an IT point of view, this ultimately is why I left the company

My role here was to source new business contracts and to manage the UK customer base selling behind the counter EPOS system solutions to McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, Starbucks and many others. The role took me all over the country and gave me the opportunity to deal with large corporates in the retail/service sectors as well as high level franchise owners, highly entrepreneurial people! I managed the UK business unit and well as the installation and service teams

I was taken on to set up the 3D Printing and 3D Scanning business unit within Inition in East London - The business unit was named "Thinglab". I was responsible for setting up distribution/resale agreements with the manufacturers of 3D printers and tasked with marketing and selling printers and scanners to existing and new customers, setting up the installation and service programmes for this equipment ( Z-Corporation and 3D Systems) I also set up the internal 3D Print and 3D scan bureau services. This is where I gained significant experience with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), google analytics and online marketing/social media - met many famous people including John Cleese, in fact we 3D scanned his head and then 3D printed a model, see picture in this profile - I very much enjoyed working for Inition

Dexion was a large UK manufacturing company - I was responsible for managing the storage paternoster/carousels division, this included selling capital equipment and tendering for new business, selecting installation/service partners and setting up the associated support structure for customers. Dexion closed its operations in the UK and I was made redundant

I was employed to start up the sales and marketing team, tasked with devising and implementing the sales strategy that would propel turnover from £1.8M to over £5M in 4 years. During this time working as a senior manager reporting to the BOD I employed and trained internal technical, marketing and sales support staff - I employed and trained my own team and we were awarded the Queens Award for export which was a significant achievement that Is a proud achievement - won and developed many Blue Chip pharmaceutical tenders and contracts which generated high growth for the company during and after my time there - I left this company to go travelling, this was a lifetime dream at that time

I started with Festo as Sales Support Engineer covering Herts and Beds, office was originally based in Teddington, London - but then moved onto Northampton.During my ongoing career development I worked in various positions covering several geographical locations and worked very closely with Key Accounts Management and won the top salesman award in 1994 (ish) which to this day I am very proud to have achieved - I became the first ever Business Development Consultant in Festo as a result of my award and continues to be successful. I left Festo to progress my career into sales management

My working life started here as an engineering apprentice for 4 years, 4 days at work and 1 day per week (Plus one evening) at college - Succesfully qualified as HNC Mechanical & Production Engineer - After my apprenticeship worked in R&D designing and building special purpose hydro/pneumatic machines. I was very lucky to have travelled to Germany, Italy and all around the UK commissioning the machines I built and tested with this job at the age of 20-23 years old - this was the period where my interest in travel, meeting people, solving problems etc took me to move into product management in this company - Then I progressed into an automation external sales role with a me man for a short time - I was already familiar with Festo by this point because I specified and used their products as an engineer at Avdel - so my move to Festo (after a short time at Mecman) was a natural progression.I have Festo to thank for the career path I have followed - even until this day !
